The ghost paradox: color it fully and it stops being a ghost, leave it blank and the page looks unfinished. The move is shading the edges. Pale blue, lavender, or mint along the outline and in the folds makes the white read as a glow instead of a gap.
Then flip the effort to the surroundings: a deep navy sky, warm lantern gold, rich ballroom reds. The darker the world, the more the ghost floats. On the Victorian pages, metallic gel pens on the frames and chandelier earn their keep.
